Near Castle Mountain Resort
It is in our human nature to tell stories of the natural world and the night sky is no exception. The stories among the stars connect us to universal truths about ourselves and the world. Join us on a guided night snowshoe to hear stories from around the world. Then during an evening fire, our Indigenous friends will connect all of us with stories from the Blackfoot perspective.

Join this cultural and magical experience!
Our adventure begins a short distance from Castle Mountain Resort and in the Castle Parks. We will meet at the Main Parking Lot at Syncline Cross Country Ski Trails. From here we will strap on a pair of snowshoes, introduce the evening with our expert and local guides, then we will hit the trails. Our guides will introduce you to night adventures and the magic that appears under the stars.
Our snowshoe will be gentle and less than 5kms. We will head out to a night sky lookout point and if it is a clear night, we will take some time to enjoy the stars in a remote area. There is nothing like seeing the stars without the light pollution of the city. On full moon weekends, it is more difficult to see the stars, but the night sky has a different story to tell.
If the night sky is not clear, we will still be exploring and hope that our storytelling will help you envision a much bigger world outside of Earth.
When we return from the snowshoe, we will have an evening fire with a hot beverage and bannock. Stay tuned for some incredible stories from our friends from the Blackfoot Nations. While you listen to these stories, we hope you find meaning in how our stories from around the world connect us all.
* When the sun sets later, we may not see the stars until we have the fire. In this case, we will enjoy the stars from the firepit. The bonus is that we get the sunset and stars! Mid-March, we have a time change and it will not get dark until near the end of the evening.
