  Summer filled with foraging fun! - I have booked with Uplift twice now, first time in Aug 2022 with an introduction to backpacking trip with my husband and also for summer 2024 with a... read more foraging course, which I signed up for on my own joining a group of fantastic ladies.

The summer foraging course with Uplift was headed up by Heather and Paula and highly recommend this to anyone looking to expand their knowledge on plants, identification of plants, how to harvest/process and also how to safely/ethically forage.

It was 2, 2 day weekend classroom instruction/interaction with optional add on foraging day hikes through the summer that I also joined in on. The scientific knowledge Heather shared along with practical knowledge from Paula complimented each other perfectly along with the addition of 2 guest speakers at the end of the season with an Indigenous knowledge Keeper and Master Herbalist.

They made it fun, interesting and inspiring! This was the first time they have put on this course and without a doubt would do again and hope that they expand even more.

What a treasure to have these two pros share their knowledge and passion through this course.

The pace was easy and we had plenty of time to enjoy the beauty of our surroundings. Heather is engaging and enthusiastic and helped make this a truly memorable experience.

We trekked 10+ km through icy and snow covered terrain (too bare for snowshoes due to the weather, but we had cleats) and I felt as a novice, supported and safe with my guide, Heather. The conversation, knowledge and information about the site we toured was fascinating, the views were exceptional and if you get the chance to go, I highly recommend it!

  Great Hike up Turtle Mountain - Have wanted to climb Turtle Mountain for a few years, since my parents moved to the Crowsnest Pass. I am so glad I went up with Heather from Uplift Adventures.... read more It was more difficult than I expected and I would not have had the skill or confidence to make it up ( and for sure not back down) without her knowledge and encouragement. This is my third hike with her and will certainly sign up for more on future visits to the area. Highly recommend this company.

  Hike with Uplift was the highlight of my vacation - I went with my nieces on a guided hike up to Southfork Lakes with Uplift Adventures. It was truly amazing. Julie was so wonderful. We talked about... read more the plants along the trail, she helped us navigate down the trail - this was the first hike I've done scree on a hike and was apprehensive coming down (it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be), she offered assistance to tape up bad ankles and knees, gave us mental support on the hike, I just can't say enough. The hike itself was challenging for me which is what I wanted. I was able to create memories with my nieces which was the point of the trip. The views were spectacular. We had lunch at the first lake, the lunch provided was tasty and satisfying - lots of food. I am looking forward to more adventures with Uplift.

  Beginner navigation and tech course - I took the Beginner navigation course and the Tech navigation course from Uplift Adventures with my partner and two other friends. Heather was our instructor throughout the entire weekend. We... read more had an amazing time and I cannot recommend this course enough. To begin with, Heather is amazing, a truly nice person and super easy to get along with. As an instructor, she is very knowledgeable, explains every concept of the course very clearly and is always available to guide you as you learn the navigation skills. As far as the course goes, it is very useful. We learnt the theory of map and compass skills in a very dynamic way in the classroom and then had the possibility to apply them outdoors. Heather truly makes you apply the skills and learn them in real life situations so you can ensure that you leave the course having learnt the skills. On the last day we took the tech course and learnt (amongst other things) multiple apps and programs to plan and design maps and trips, and again, later in the day using those tools and gps in the outdoors. She purposely encouraged us to get lost so we could learn how to use our learnt navigation skills to find our own way to the intended destination. It was a great course, learnt tons and met amazing people. If you are in doubt whether or not you should book this course, doubt no more, book it and you will not regret it!

Heather taught us all the essentials to navigate in the backcountry, including how to read a topographical map, use... read more a compass, GPS technology, trip planning and even how to create our own maps. The best part was getting out in the field and practicing our new skills! Heather was incredibly knowledgeable, and she made the whole experience so much fun. I left feeling empowered and excited to start exploring the wilderness in a whole new way. If you're tired of doing the same old hikes and want to take your exploring to the next level, this is the place to start.
