Overview

Have you thought about getting outside to start your climbing journey? The Intro into Outdoor Rock Climbing course is designed for people who have never climbed before or have done some climbing indoors. This course focuses on outdoor climbing, belaying, and rappelling. It will help you build your skills to be safe while outdoor climbing, pass a belay test at an indoor climbing gym, and teach you how to descend on a climbing rope (rappelling).

Are you interested in climbing while on vacation in the area? Book an experiential climbing course.

We offer limited group climbing courses throughout the summer. If you want to be on a waiting list, you can fill out the online form and we will be in touch with you if new dates become available. Private courses can be booked upon request.

What to Expect: Your intro into outdoor climbing course will start with a safety briefing and how the day will look. Gear will be handed out, including climbing shoes, harness, helmet, belay device, and chalk bag. Keep your gear together so you don't lose it. You will have a short walk to the climbing crag. Your instructor will ask for help with carrying the gear, such as ropes. Once at the crag, your instructor will set up the ropes and you will start the course. The first part of the course will focus on climbing and belaying. You will have time to do some climbs with your climbing partner.

We will then break for lunch and stretch.

After this point, we will focus on descending on a climbing rope, also known as rappelling. We will then return to the parking lot and high five. You will excited to climb again!

The key learning objectives of this course include:

⭐ How to use a tie-in knot to the harness
⭐ Learn a fun and new sport
⭐ How to belay your climbing partner
⭐ Climbing technique and etiquette
⭐ Climbing communication
⭐ Safely attach yourself to a rope and descend on the rope to the ground

This course is offered a short distance outside Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. All climbing gear is included.
